Festival Security in Cumbria
Crowd management, access control, gate searching and campsite cover for festivals and large outdoor events. Our supervisors and SIA-licensed officers work to your event plan, keep the site safe through build-up, show days and breakdown, and stay approachable with everyone who has bought a ticket.

What festival security includes
A festival is a small town for a few days, with its own traffic, night-time economy, welfare needs and tiredness. Security has to cover all of it without ever making paying customers feel they are the problem.
- Build-up and breakdown access control, including contractor and vehicle movement
- Parking lot and arrival lane management during the opening hours
- Gate searches, ticket validation support and entry flow
- Arena patrols, stage front work and barrier supervision
- Campsite patrols and overnight presence
- Welfare checks and rapid response to incidents
- Liaison with event control, medical and fire teams
- Egress management and departure marshaling
Crowd management and access control
Most festival incidents are predictable long before they happen. Crowd flow at a shared gate, queues forming where the entertainment is visible from outside, or a lane closing for 20 minutes while a delivery comes in are all things that can be planned for. Our supervisors watch crowd pressure points and adjust, rather than waiting for a problem to build.
- Counting and pacing arrivals through each gate
- Separating vehicle, trade and pedestrian movements
- Monitoring density at stage fronts and managing entrances to viewing areas
- Keeping exit routes clear and unlocked throughout the event
- Coordinating with stewards so directions stay consistent across the site
How we build a festival team
- Plan and site visit. We review your event plan, licence conditions and site layout, including build-up dates and overnight arrangements.
- Numbers and roles. We agree a structure: gate teams, arena patrols, campsite cover, stage front and relief staff, with supervisors attached to each shift.
- Briefing. Every officer is briefed on the site, the programme, radio procedures, escalation routes and expected behaviour before their first shift.
- Show days. A supervisor is on site throughout, radio-linked to event control, with an on-call manager from our office.
- Daily handover. Each shift ends with a handover and a written record of incidents, so nothing gets lost as teams change.
Working through real festival conditions
Festivals are physical work, done outdoors, in all weathers, on your feet for long shifts. We plan schedules with that in mind: proper breaks, rotation off the busiest positions, relief officers on call, and clothing and footwear suited to the ground. A tired security team is a risk in itself, so managing the team's welfare is part of managing your event's safety.
Festivals and large events in Cumbria
Our supervisors and officers are based across Cumbria, which makes staffing multi-day events more reliable: officers are local, and relief cover does not depend on people travelling hours to reach your site. We also work closely with the wider team around a festival, from stewards and medical cover to fire wardens, so the site operates as one team.
Festival security questions
How many officers does a festival need?
There is no single number. Capacity, stage front arrangements, campsite size, whether the event is licensed, arrival and departure peaks, and the licence conditions all affect the answer. We plan numbers with you from the site plan and the programme.
Can you cover the campsite overnight as well as the arena?
Yes. Campsites usually need a different style of cover from the arena: fewer officers, but a constant presence, welfare awareness and quick response to noise, medical or fire concerns. We plan overnight schedules separately for that reason.
Do your festival teams include supervisors?
Yes. Every festival team we deploy includes a supervisor who is on site for the duration of the event, radio-linked to our office and to your event control.
How do you handle searches at festival gates?
Searching is carried out by SIA-licensed officers, following your event plan and conditions, with a consistent approach across every lane so nobody feels singled out. Anything found is dealt with under your event's procedure.
Can you help before the event as well as on the day?
Yes. We are happy to be involved in planning meetings and site visits, and to review your build-up and breakdown arrangements, which are often the periods that need the most access control.
