What event security covers

Every event has its own pressures: a queue that builds faster than expected, a parking lot that turns to mud, a group who have had too much, or a performer running late. Our role is to keep all of that under control quietly, so your visitors never notice anything other than a well-run event.

  • Gate management, ticket checking and entry flow
  • Access control for staff, performers, contractors and VIP areas
  • Bag searching where required by your licence or event plan
  • Baggage, cloakroom and lost-property arrangements at entrances
  • Parking, traffic marshaling and pedestrian crossing points
  • Managing viewing areas, queue lines and barrier positions
  • Incident response, first-aid liaison and welfare support
  • End-of-event egress so people leave steadily rather than all at once

Events we provide security for

  • Community festivals, galas and town centre events
  • Agricultural shows, country fairs and markets
  • Sports fixtures, tournaments and race meetings
  • Music events, gigs and outdoor performances
  • Firework displays and seasonal celebrations
  • Corporate open days, launches and award evenings
  • Private functions, weddings and family celebrations
  • Charity and fundraising events

Planning security for your event

Event security is planned long before the gates open. When you brief us, the questions below give us most of what we need. If you do not have answers yet, we will work through them with you.

  1. Site and access. How many entrances, where are the pinch points, and how do vehicles and visitors arrive?
  2. Numbers. How many visitors you expect, when the busy periods will be, and what your licence conditions say about staffing.
  3. Programme. Start and finish times, headline acts or key moments, and what happens if something runs late.
  4. Risk. Alcohol, cash handling, VIPs, previous incidents, and anything about the site that worries you.
  5. Radio and reporting. How our supervisor, your event manager and medical support will communicate during the day.

From there we agree a staffing plan with roles and timings, brief the team in advance, and carry out a walk-round before the event opens.

SIA-licensed officers and stewards: using the right role in the right place

Events work best with a mix. SIA-licensed officers take on the duties that need a licensed role, such as gate searches and premises licence conditions, while stewards handle direction, parking lots and spectator areas under the event's instruction. Being clear about that split on the plan avoids gaps on the day, and it keeps your staffing costs focused where they are actually needed.

Local knowledge for Cumbrian events

We are a Cumbria-based team, and much of our event work is outdoors in places where the weather and the ground are part of the plan. West coast winds, sudden rain and rural access roads are all normal conditions for us. That local experience shows up in the practical details: where to park staff, where the ground will cut up first, and how long egress really takes on a site like yours.

Event security questions

How many security staff does my event need?

It depends on expected attendance, the layout of the site, whether alcohol is served, timings and any conditions attached to your event licence. We look at the site plan and the running order with you, then recommend numbers of SIA-licensed officers and stewards rather than guessing from attendance alone.

Can you cover outdoor events in bad weather?

Yes. Cumbrian events are often at the mercy of the weather, so we plan for it: adequate welfare breaks and rotation for staff, suitable clothing and footwear, and wet-weather contingency for ground conditions and parking lots.

Do you provide stewards as well as SIA-licensed officers?

Yes. Many events need a mix, with SIA-licensed officers on gates, searches and any licensed areas, and stewards supporting direction, parking lots and spectator areas. We will be clear about which duties need which role.

Will you work with our event safety plan and licence conditions?

Yes. We ask for your event plan, risk assessments and licence conditions, and we build our briefing and staff numbers around them. Our supervisor works with your event manager and safety officer on the day.

How far in advance should we book event security?

The earlier the better for events during the summer season and around the Christmas period, as availability tightens. We do take on late bookings where staffing allows, so it is always worth asking.
