How we prepare every officer

A security officer is only as good as the checks behind them. Before an officer works on one of our sites, we confirm the basics and then brief them properly, because an officer who does not understand your building cannot protect it.

  • Valid SIA licence, checked on the SIA register
  • Right to work documents verified
  • Screened and vetted, with references taken up
  • Site-specific briefing before the first shift
  • Uniform, ID card and the equipment the assignment needs
  • Clear instructions on reporting, escalation and who to contact

What you can expect from our officers

  • Officers employed directly on PAYE and fully insured
  • A team that includes both male and female officers
  • A courteous, approachable manner with staff, customers and visitors
  • Proactive patrols and checks rather than standing and waiting
  • Written reports of incidents, patrols and handovers
  • Contact with a supervisor and our office throughout the shift

Looking after our own people

Much of our work happens at night, outdoors and in bad weather, and it is physical work. We plan schedules with proper breaks and adequate relief, brief officers on what a site involves before they arrive, and keep a named supervisor available to them. A team that is looked after turns up on time, stays calm under pressure and does the job properly.

Working for AJ-Security

We are always interested in hearing from SIA-licensed door supervisors and security officers across Cumbria, and from people who would like to work in the industry but do not hold a licence yet. If you are already licensed, call the office and we can talk about current work straight away. If you need training first, our training page explains where to start.

Our personnel: common questions

Are your security officers SIA licenced?

Yes. Every officer we deploy holds a valid SIA licence, which we check on the SIA register. Our teams include both male and female officers.

Do you employ officers directly or use subcontractors?

Our officers are employed directly on PAYE and we are fully insured, so the team on your site answers to us and to you.

Can we request male or female officers for our venue?

Yes. Tell us what suits your premises and your customers and we will match the team to it, whether that is door supervision, reception cover or a welfare-focused role.

How do I apply to work for AJ-Security?

Send your details through the contact form or call the office on 01900 368777. If you already hold an SIA licence we can talk about current work straight away, and if you are new to the industry we can point you towards training.
