Trained, SIA-licensed male and female door supervisors for pubs, bars, clubs, hotels and licensed venues across Cumbria. We keep the door calm, protect your staff and licence conditions, and make sure the customers you want inside feel welcome.

What door supervision involves

Good door supervision is mostly judgement. Reading a queue, spotting the person who has had enough before they cause a problem, and dealing with a refusal without turning it into a scene outside your front door. Our supervisors are trained to handle all of it while your staff stay focused on running the venue.

  • Welcoming and monitoring customers as they arrive
  • Age verification and Challenge 25 checks at the door
  • Managing queues, capacity and entry pace so the room stays comfortable
  • Refusing entry calmly, with reasons recorded
  • Dealing with intoxicated or aggressive customers without escalation
  • Carrying out searches where your licence conditions require them
  • Watching for drug use, and working with your staff on ejection procedures
  • Coordinating with police, licensing officers and neighbouring premises
  • Recording incidents, refusals and ejections in a door log

Venues and premises we cover

  • Pubs, bars and late-night venues
  • Nightclubs and members' clubs
  • Hotels, function rooms and wedding venues
  • Restaurants and bistros with late licences
  • Social clubs, community halls and sports clubs
  • Microbreweries and taprooms with evening opening
  • Outdoor licensed areas, beer gardens and weekend pop-up bars

Working with licensees, DPSs and bar staff

Door supervision only works properly when the door and the bar are on the same side. Before a regular booking starts we agree:

  • How many door staff your licence conditions require, and at what times
  • Who the duty manager is each night and how they reach our supervisor
  • What we should refuse entry for, and what to do with regulars who push it
  • How ejections and incidents are recorded and shared with you afterwards
  • What we do if a customer needs medical help or welfare support

Your staff should never be the ones stepping between two groups of customers at 1am. That is our job, and it is the reason we are on the door.

What good door supervision looks like on the night

  1. Officers arrive early, in uniform, and walk the venue with the duty manager.
  2. Entry is managed steadily so the bar is never overwhelmed in one rush.
  3. Refusals happen quietly, away from the queue, and are logged straight away.
  4. Officers stay visible inside as well as on the door, watching the room rather than only the pavement.
  5. The shift is handed over properly, with anything unresolved passed on.

Door supervision questions

Do your door supervisors hold SIA licences?

Yes. Every door supervisor we supply holds a valid SIA door supervision licence, and we check licences on the SIA register before shifts are allocated. Our teams include both male and female officers.

Can you cover a venue at short notice if a staff member is ill?

Call us on 01900 368777. Because our officers and supervisors are based in Cumbria, we can often cover last-minute gaps, and we plan relief staff for regular bookings so the door is not left short.

What is the difference between a door supervisor and a steward?

A door supervisor is SIA licensed and can carry out duties such as searching and refusing entry under your premises licence conditions. A steward works under the event organiser's instruction and does not hold the same licensing powers, which is why we use them for different parts of a job.

Will your door team work to our premises licence conditions?

Yes. We ask to see your premises licence and licence conditions, including any conditions on numbers of door staff, on searches or on Challenge 25, and we build those into the briefing for your venue.

Can you provide door supervisors for one-off events and functions?

Yes. We cover one-off functions, parties, weddings and community events as well as regular weekly bookings at licensed premises.
