Security Training in Cumbria

Training for people who want to work in the security industry, and for businesses whose staff need fire marshal, first aid or security awareness training. Courses are delivered through AJ Training Academy, and everything starts with one phone call.

Two different groups come to us for training: people who want to work in security and need the qualifications to get started, and organisations whose own staff need to be trained for the duties they already carry. Both routes are handled by AJ Training Academy.

Training for people who want to work in security

Most security roles in the UK, including door supervision and security guarding, need a valid SIA licence before you can work. Training is the first step: complete the relevant course, then apply for the licence. The academy will tell you which course suits the work you want to do.

  • Licence-linked training for security guarding and door supervision
  • First aid and refresher training
  • Fire marshal and fire warden training
  • Close protection and specialist instruction through our instructors

Course dates, prices and booking are set by the academy, so the latest details always sit on the academy site rather than here. If you are unsure which course you need, call the training team on 01900 368722 and ask before you book.

Training for businesses and their staff

Plenty of our training enquiries come from employers rather than individuals. If your premises need trained fire marshals, your team needs first aid cover, or your staff would benefit from understanding how security works alongside their own roles, the academy can talk through what is available. Training staff in-house often works out simpler than bringing in temporary cover for duties your own people could carry out.

How booking works

  1. Read the current course list on the AJ Training Academy website.
  2. Call or email the training team if you are not sure which course applies to you.
  3. Confirm dates and price with the academy before you commit.
  4. Attend the course, then complete your SIA licence application where one is needed.

After your training

If you complete a security course and want to work in Cumbria, get in touch. We recruit SIA-licensed officers across the county, and our personnel page explains how we vet and brief the team. Employers looking for security cover rather than training should start with our security services page.

Training: common questions

Is the training run by AJ-Security?

Training is delivered through AJ Training Academy, our training provider. Course dates, prices and booking are handled there, so the academy site always has the current list.

Do I need an SIA licence to work in security?

For licensed roles such as door supervision and security guarding you must hold a valid SIA licence before you work. Training is the first step towards applying for that licence.

Can you train a group of our staff?

Speak to the training team on 01900 368722 or email courses@ajtrainingacademy.com and they will tell you what is available for groups and what it involves.

Will training with you lead to work with AJ-Security?

Not automatically, but we do recruit licensed officers across Cumbria, and we are always interested in hearing from people who have come through the academy. Send your details and we will keep them on file.
